Musings from an equestrian mom about life in the company of a very spirited horse

Hey Horse Moms,
I’m going out on a short limb here: You have child – likely a daughter – who is horse crazy with a deep passion for riding-showing-training-grooming-loving these 1,200+ pound beasts at every possible opportunity. And as a result, you have found yourself immersed in the horse world. You are also your child’s first and quite possibly their most important/only personal groom (aka, stable hand, sherpa, snack dispenser, emotional support).
I’m one of you! I’m Kristin and my daughter is Riloh. And Nikki is our beloved chestnut Thoroughbred mare. Riloh and Nikki have trained and showed together in the hunter jumpers discipline for the past three years and they’re an awesome team.
That chestnut mare has had a big impact on us, so I thought it was fitting to name my blog after her in some way.
